EARLY LIFE
Mercy Chinwo was born on the 5th of September, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state Nigeria. She is the fourth child of five children. According to info, Mercy lost her father at a young age.
She had her primary school education at Goodwill International School. Had her secondary school education at Victory Comprehensive College and Paradise International School respectively, for her secondary school education.
She attended prestigious university of Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Nigeria, where she studied linguistics and communication and also got a degree studying the course. This is all we know concerning her early life and education. We now go to her music career.
MERCY CHINWO MUSIC CAREER
Mercy first started out as an actress. She became popular after winning the season 2 of the Nigerian Idol competition in 2012. She had her first role in acting as Lucia in the movie “House Of Gold” which was directed by Yvonne Nelson and starred other celebs like Omawumi, Majid Michael and Yvonne Nelson (Director herself). The movie won Best Picture at the Ghana movie awards and also Best Ghananian movie at the 2013 City People Awards.
She later left acting to pursue her music career. She first started as a backup singer to popular artiste such as the late Sammie Okposo, Joe Praise, Buchi, Chris Morgan and Preye Odede.
She was discovered in 2017 by record label Boss, Mr Ezekiel ThankGod who got her signed into EeZee Concepts record label. Mercy Chinwo did some couple of works before getting signed into EeZee record label. Like her first single “Testimony” which was released in 2015 and “Igwe” in 2016. However, she released her debut studio album in 2018 titled “The Cross My Gaze”.
Her debut studio album, The Cross My Gaze, contained lots of worship songs and the particular track “Essence Love” brought her to a more wider audience of Gospel songs lovers as the song was a Gospel phenomenon at the time of release. The Album was released by EeZee concepts under Dixtrit Media and had 16 tracks. Popular artiste were also featured on the album like Fiokee, Shady B, Olaitan Odoko and others.
After that success, Mercy Chinwo went on to release other projects which were popular among Gospel music lovers. Mercy Chinwo is one of the so many blessings the Nigerian Gospel music industry has to offer and she is not backing down anytime soon.
